Treatment for pink eye

Pink eye also has some other names, these names are Conjunctivitis, or Madras eye.  Pink eye is usually an inflammation of the surface of your eye or the inner part of the eyelid.  It is generally due to allergies, or an infection.  The infection could either be viral or bacterial. 

Treatment for pink eye

The symptoms of pink eye can be a variety of things, depending on which kind you may have the symptoms will be different.  Here are the different kinds and a list of their symptoms.

  1. Viral conjunctivitis (Viral Pink Eye)

     

    • Watery eyes, with a slight liquid discharge

    • Itchiness in the eye, and around the eye

    • Usually starts in one eye but generally moves to other

     

  2. Bacterial Conjunctivitis (Bacterial Pink Eye)

    • Watering eyes, with a yellow or greenish colored discharge

    • Irritation and itchiness are very common

    • Starts in one eye and spreads to other

       

  3. Allergic Conjunctivitis (Allergic Pink Eye)

    • Excessive tearing, discomfort, and itchiness, normally effects both eyes at the same time

Treatment for pink eye

 

Viral pink eye, and Bacteria pink eye are very contagious, it can be spread very easily.  If you contract pink eye make sure you stay home for a couple days and take the medication that the doctor supplied for you.  Bacterial pink and viral pink eye have to run their coarse, the medications that the doctors prescribe are for soothing pink eye not really for curing it.  Allergic pink eye is a different story, the doctor will usually give you some eye drops.  A eye drop solution called Patanol is a very good remedy for allergic pink eye.  Just have to take it 2 times a day until it is all cleared up.
